Further work has been made on that Fallout 1 inspired map.
I've created an outside area with a skybox based on the Inyo mountains.

Follow for more, i guess.

Trying to silence my absolute mental anguish by making some more worldbuilding filler assets for mika revamp.

Feat. KING OF THE NORTHEAST, Shenandoah Catalogue, and Aldebaran Express!

Aldebaran is actually a game one of my good friends is making. Gotta share the good work! #gamedev #sourceengine

Revamping gm_mika is something I've wanted to do for a very long time now. So here. Work is being done.

I still don't quite get how this site works.
What do you mean it's empty?

By all means, nevermind.

Finally modeled a robot...

The problem?

It was my first humanoid model.

Yeah…

This ends today's Jan Ramble.

I will maybe come back and share more of my awful assets if anyone is interested.

Another example is this here sign. It's just a simple cube stretched to proportions, but what really sells it, is the texturing.

I made it for my Ravenfield level "BLACKROCK ISLANDS", and it's probably my favorite element of the map.

Creating models that are just about good enough for what you're doing is one of the keys to not overworking yourself on things.

For example, when i needed a physical clock present in my mod, i made an old alarm clock.

Does it look amazing? No. But it works in the level and that's what matters!

A warehouse shelf and a cardboard box.

The creation of those assets gave me a much needed confidence boost to finally say: "That's it! That's what i needed! I'm going to finish this thing!"

And that's what i will do.

But with the coming of this year, i've finally gotten around to finishing this area. I made the necessary assets and placed them in the level.

It was just as i intended from the start.

Over the span of the year 2021, i was slowly but surely remaking the entire mod in preparation for a standalone release. This also entailed replacing the entire storage area with new assets.

I didn't have those assets back then.

In my Half-Life 2 mod, there has always been an area that i wasn't satisfied with. It was always supposed to be a sort of storage area with boxes and shelves.

In the original 2019 iteration, it was... less than ideal.

Thanks to @muddasheep.bsky.social for giving me an invite code!

Now that I'm free from the Bird...
It's time to get to work.
