Regina police officer Robert Semenchuck is accused of using police databases to pursue multiple women, some of whom were victims of other crimes.
Police are releasing his picture because they believe some women may know him by a different name.

It is so fun — and so rare — to see one of your stories out in the world in such a joyful way. Loved seeing so many copies of @theglobeandmail.com around at Monster Pro Wrestling last night, after our feature about Sage Morin aka The Matriarch.

Woody Guthrie’s New Years Rulin’s 1943. Always relevant, some years even more than others.

So honoured to see In Her Defence: 50th Street named one of Amazon's best podcasts of the year. I’m so grateful to the Tuccaro family for trusting me with Amber’s story, and it means a lot to know it’s reaching people.

It is really amazing to see this event growing in Canada, and to meet the tough and dedicated women that are making it happen.
Did I mention that they had to raise their own prize money?

I used to cover rodeo when I worked at small rural papers at the beginning of my career in the 1990s.
This fall I headed back to the Canadian Finals Rodeo for @theglobeandmail.com.
(I even accidentally took the same picture of myself covering rodeo 25 years apart.)

The growth of breakaway roping is phenomenal.
From a couple dozen rodeos in 2019, it was in more than 500 rodeos this year — and is still growing.
This has been fuelled by the #addbreakaway and “Rope like a Girl” movements, with a lot of lobbying by the ropers themselves.

(Is this a thread? I think so. Still figuring it out over here.)
Anyhow -- 100 years ago, this month, the Pendleton Rodeo banned women from men's rodeo competitions. Other rodeos soon did the same.

A little thread about my latest feature for the @theglobeandmail.com.
A century ago, cowgirls used to compete right alongside cowboys at the rodeo. And they were GOOD. Women like Mabel Strickland and Bertha Blancett were among the best rodeo riders and ropers in the world.

In the recording studio with producer Kasia Mychajlowycz this morning recording the eighth — and final! — episode of our @globeandmail narrative podcast series, In Her Defence.
Episode 6 drops tomorrow.

A bit unreal to see In Her Defence at #3 in true crime, under NBC.
I’m so glad Helen’s story is reaching people, and so proud of our little @globeandmail.bsky.social podcast team.
