Pleased to report that my Plum Jam with cinnamon and vanilla got a silver medal in the Tottenham Flower and Produce Show!
(Next year maybe I'll add some alcohol.)
Display of 15 different jars of jam, two of which are adorned with heart-shaped good or silver medals. The gold-winning jar is labelled "Plum jam, with a little greengage & a dash of brandy" whereas the silver-winning jar (mine) is labelled "Plum jam with vanilla and cinnamon".

At the British Library I was thrilled to see Gertrude Jekyll's boots, that she'd gardened in, I think, for 40 years. Must've looked after them very well!
A pair of fairly old, lace-up, ankle-length boots, one of which is lying on its side so you can see the metal toe-cap and pattern of studs along the sole.

I loved these beautifully woven baskets at the Design Museum, made by women of the Ye'kuana people from the Venezuelan Amazon.
Two curvy baskets woven from plant materials, one in a two-tone zig zag pattern, the other in multicoloured stripes interspersed with symbols. Extensions of the forest These baskets were woven by members of the Ye'kuana people of the Venezuelan Amazon. Weaving baskets is central to Ye'kuana identity. It is a ritual process that begins with songs, asking the rainforest's permission to take the necessary materials for weaving. The Ye'kuana view baskets as sacred objects, essentially an extension of the natural world. They are often decorated with the animals of the forest. The types shown here, the small Jojo and the larger Wüwa, are only woven by women. All the baskets have been produced by women belonging to the Association of Women Weavers of Caura Adooni led by the artisan Dawa (Dawanedu Emajenewa/Luz Maria García), and are courtesy of Madame Tepuy

A glut of blackcurrants this year - and some jammy bartering with a friend who grows them - has enabled me to make blackcurrant jam for the first time. And very nice it is too. Will be selling it with other products at Myddleton Road Market this Sunday.
