‪Finally completed my first cinematic in Unreal Engine! I learned a lot at every step of this project, and I feel like I finally have a good foundation to grow from. Huge thanks to @dmawdev.bsky.social‬ for being such an informative and encouraging professor, and for pushing me at every step :D

Spent some time working on blocking out the environment and adding some camera movement to my door cinematic. I'm very happy with how it's coming along but there's plenty of things I want to change that will tie all of this together. First on the list--- sizing up the door!

The door! It opens! This project was super fun and it realllyyyyy showed me what could be done/animated in the sequencer. I've been working on putting together some cool camera moves (and an environment that isn't a plain black box) to add some story to this little guy

Technically... I have a BFA in animation. Practically-- I've animated like 10 times ever🥲. Today I cracked open Unreal to get started on 11, and I got the motion of the big metal bug locked in! Now to make it even cooler with effects, glowing paths, blend shapes, and of course-- sound effects

Jumping away from Unreal and back into Maya this week for some modelling. This has always been my least favorite part of the pipeline, but it's very important to get right. I had this idea for a door that's "locked" by the outstretched wings of a bug. Can't wait to animate this guy.

Getting to finally learn and mess around with blueprinting has become one of my favorite parts of unreal engine! It's so cool to see the logic behind different parts of a game. I've got some tests in, and I've been implementing them into a personal project that I can't wait to show y'all!

The environment is finally done! I had a lot of fun playing with the particle systems and lighting the overall scene. I'm very happy with how this came out and I learned a lot in the process

Made a good bit of progress with set-dressing the environment this week! I've managed to fill out a lot of the empty space, and I've been having a lot of fun with Unreal Engine's foliage tools. Now to focus on the lighting---
