Follow to watch my journey as I take my first steps as an artist. Aiming to create a modern fantasy epic that I've been planning for years.

Criticism welcome, but 1 criticism must be accompanied with one sincere compliment or you will be blocked.
Also the Vietnam war is taught in a really wacky way where you are not asked to think about causes or effects. It's pretty much just "Yeah we wanted to stop communism so we did Vietnam and then Korea and it was unpopular 🤷‍♀️ Gotta fight communism though!"

I'm a history teacher who recently escaped from Texas.

The way they do history there is that you pretty much only learn through the Civil War until Junior year, when you spend 1 semester of post-civil war US History.

Anything after MLK is usually a paragraph that is paired with a picture of 9/11.

We have SO MANY abandoned malls that are just *begging* to be converted to something useful to the community. Even if it's just turning them in to a library or a new third space or whatever.

Like, that land is "owned" but not being used... Communities should be able to reclaim that.

Rogan and Musk moved to TX and advertised it for years, and it really is a Mecca for those types.

The oil companies, at least, have invested back to some degree in to Texan society. Fuck, at least they sponsor race tracks.

These people are like a swarm of locus trained to devour anything "woke."

Urban people are generally much more aware of their surroundings, but they have a real silly romanticism for these places and it's going to get a lot of people hurt.

After the FL floods last year, I would point out (as the Texas Geography teacher) that the Gulf was basically a big bull's-eyes with Houston (like the only reason we have an economy, basically) in the center!!

So happy to have escaped... I think about my trans sisters who couldn't get out daily.

Here's an example:
Last year the trees did not turn orange until DECEMBER. Historically, leaves would change color in September. I have many many fond memories of this.

I would point it out to people and IT FELT LIKE THE TWILIGHT ZONE!!!! Like they could not process the words I was saying...

Living in Texas society right now is existing in a mass psychosis event where you deny every problem because leaving is so difficult and expensive that escape is inconceivable, + the cultural emphasis on family makes escape seem "wrong" almost.

I had a pregnant coworker tell me she was going to move to TX bc of the cheap land. "I get to own my little place! I'll have a little backyard and I can paint the walls and driving is so much easier!" She told me.

Do not do it, you will regret it. You will get trapped in boondoggle after boondoggle

Hi I'm a long time fellow poster, I also happen to have been a teacher born/raised in the DFW area. Just moved to NYC to get away from... That.

It is not at all hyperbolic to say that society has all but entirely collapsed in Tx. Do not move there. Genuinely catastrophic.
