When we ran down Mount Baldy and surveyed the Lake Michigan shoreline, I invited my family to pose for this imperfect picture. It reminded me of life—the beauty and the poopy things existing side-by-side. Embracing imperfection with love is essential as we move forward and create change together.❤️

Sometimes our thoughts take us away, but our senses can bring us back to the moment. Again… Again… And again. I love this simple reminder from the Mindfulness and Self-Compassion Workbooks for Kids, Volume 1. It’s good for grown-ups too!

Acceptance can be one of the hardest things to cultivate. In the context of mindfulness, acceptance does not mean that we agree with or condone what is happening. Acknowledging what is happening with a sense of evenness enables us to respond adaptively moving forward.
