Do runners completing ~12-15 hrs/wk log similar work to triathletes or cyclists completing 20-25 hrs/wk?

What is the minimum stimulus needed to maximise adaptation? E.g., would a runner logging 15 hrs/wk benefit from cross training for further aerobic stimulus?
