I must be especially dense, but this segment on Maddow finally made me realize that DOGE breaking the government is a feature, not a bug.

Yeah but people get really mad about shutdowns and demand they end quickly. They make people pay attention and figure out who's to blame, which would have been Republicans. Now the shitshow is bipartisan though. Yay decorum.

Republicans will use this move to claim that their evil budget is bipartisan, and now they won't be completely wrong! Also rolling over this time ensures that the next CR will be even worse. Can't wait to contribute to your primary opponent.

This is a huge mistake and disqualifying for senate leadership. If Republicans wanted a shutdown they didn't have to put up a CR bill or they could have loaded it up with poison pills. If you give in to them now the next CR will be even worse. Now is the time to fight, not surrender.

This means NO on cloture, right?

If you give in to these punks they will throw every evil thing they do for the next 6 months back in your face and claim it was bipartisan. Not to mention the next CR they force down your throat will be even worse.

My company does the same thing, all of the remote people have to fly back to the home office periodically. Totally normal.
