Between Murray and Fitzpatrick (an FF councillor who ran as an independent when he wasn’t chosen to run in the GE) FF are guaranteed a seat here. Clendennen in a very strong position too as he will also benefit from transfers. Masterson not out of it but faces an uphill battle.

Nice way of putting it. Having a phone call with a leader who has invaded a sovereign nation and has no remorse after two years is certainly an action. Being forced by allies in Europe to give more weapons instead of just helmets is another action. Germany is a big country in Europeans terms.

Yes by two autocracies in Russia and North Korea who currently have militarily invaded a sovereign nation. This should have been done a long time ago. It is to our eternal shame that it wasn’t.

We need more polish style leadership. Germany has proved it no longer should be asked to lead on this issue.

Well said. Since Trump was elected I have heard Europeans say this means we need to take control of our own defence. Then not long after Scholz calls Putin. I despair.

I like the new way social media sites are being spread out. Like having a choice of newspapers. There is an argument to keep a presence in all of them or some of them or only one. Whatever one prefers. You get different views and it reduces the power of any one site. Of course some may go under…

Thanks for the clarification. I would imagine the PVV’s main aim is to grow their position like many right wing parties and would take going into opposition with more seats? They would probably feel more comfortable there too. No governing required with many coalition partners

This seems like an overperformance by the Dems in contrast to predictions? Leaves them in a strong place if 2026 is a typical midterm

I remember David Rubenstein saying this exact thing to Trump about why DeSantis failed against him. Trump purred his agreement. I assume the PVV will win extra seats if there were to be another election so they won’t easily let things be patched up?

Didn’t most of the US electorate know this about these people? Mild inflation (by historical standards) is obviously a powerful factor. Or perhaps this type of thing doesn’t resonate greatly with the general public.

Noticeable the lack of presence of Irish figures, companies and media outlets on here compared with how British and Americans have embraced it.
