I will not celebrate his death. But I will call for justice to all those who suffered at the hands of his hateful ideology.

When you take one aspect of a person’s identity and make it the explanation for their worst behaviour, but ignore that same aspect when others act violently, you are not seeking truth. You are enforcing prejudice.

Resist it in yourself and call it out in others.

"Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat."
It is already repeating itself. We waited too long. Act NOW!

Too many dismiss Alligator Alcatraz by saying, “It’s not as bad as Auschwitz!” That logic excuses harm. That’s how denial becomes complicity. We must name and confront injustice before it grows beyond what people will dare to stop.

Every atrocity was once “not that bad”.

Until it was.

Empathy is the act of crossing the barriers between self and the other without collapsing difference.

Woe to you, you singer of songs,
You bow to the weight of your fears.
In the king's chamber you worship,
Yet why does he cast no spears?

The arrest of Mahmoud Khalil signals a dangerous escalation in criminalizing dissent. Targeting pro-Palestinian activists with vague claims & detaining a lawful resident without charges threatens free speech, academic freedom & due process, setting a precedent that endangers everyone.

Trump’s memo on enforcing Rule 65(c), which demands costly bonds from plaintiffs challenging government actions, misrepresents the law, intimidates judges, silences marginalized communities and advocacy groups, and ultimately restricts access to justice for all but the wealthy.

"Do not be daunted by the enormity of the world' grief.
Do justly now.
Love mercy now.
Walk humbly now.
You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it."

Trayvon Martin should be celebrating his 30th birthday today. His death is not Black History. It's white history. The legacy of resistance and change that came from his murder-THAT is Black History.

With renewed attention on Bishop Budde’s care for Matthew Shepard’s remains, lies resurfacing about his murder must be debunked. Evidence shows he was targeted because he was gay; claims it was a robbery/dispute ignore facts and dishonor his memory. We must uphold the truth: it was a hate crime.

Baldwin warned that victims’ testimonies are often distorted by those in power to deflect responsibility & sustain oppression, weaponizing truth against resistance. This highlights the need to protect marginalized voices and preserve their narratives. Where do you see this today? How can we resist?

Anyone else watching "Earth Abides"? While I am enjoying it, I would highly recommend that you consider reading the novel that inspired it. It is a classic work of fiction that, in many ways, gave birth to a genre. It asks some profoundly important questions.
