Apprentice beach bum. Former sailor, farmer, and jam maker.
Not a clue as to the type of midge...although those we saw on the farm were apparently the 'non-biting' type, as they had no interest in people or animals nearby.

Not an entomologist, but according to Prof Google it's a midge mating swarm of males trying to attract females.
Used to see them a lot over shrubs near the dam on our farm.

What perfect album came out the year you turned 16?

Someone needs to develop AI for grave digging.

Too many roots can be bad for your back.

It's amazing what combined AI and sheer ignorance can produce for you.

If it wasn't such a pleasant evening, I'd be getting all fired up about Tassie's treatment of nature about now, but I'm gonna go for a stroll on the beach instead.🙂

I have to credit TMAG's 'Field Guide To Tasmanian Fauna' app for answering your question. Sadly TMAG isn't able to continue supporting the app, which has been removed from the App Store and Play Store😞. My copy survives on a spare phone.

For another affront, check this out. Woodside gas tanker 'Woodside Goode' decorated with kangaroos on the sides...and registered in Greece. images.marinetraffic.com/collection/1...

Maybe so, but I can hear the cries of 'It's RIGGED!' if the Tawny Frogmouth doesn't win.

Well they could use the Geelong terminal...if Spirits ii and iii weren't using it. Point Henry pier is the >1km long pier for the (closed 2014) Alcoa aluminium smelter.

Meanwhile it's 'You can trust us. We know what we're doing.' with the potential ~$1B stadium disaster.

Just an answer to another obvious question that no responsible manager or minister has ever asked.

One chance to legislate a fairer Australia...and they blew it.

OK, I get it............but the odd nudge and/or wink would make it more palatable.

The singular honor of being near the top of 'People who terrify me' list.

c1966 in one of my first trips at sea, we came across a harpooned whale S of WA, inflated and marked by a buoy. Never forget the smell or the sharks feasting on the carcase.

Yeah, I reckon it's a goner. But in my 35 years living in the sticks, the hardest thing to find was a local who didn't swear blind that they'd seen one.
