Whoa! The Substance was crazy. It’s really gross! However…It remained original, while referencing many other films like The Fly, Re-Animator, and the truly horrific Basketcase. 😱 It also paid homage to Kubrick and Stephen King and echoed Oscar Wilde’s Picture of Dorian Gray. What else?
