Yaa Gyasi's "Transcendent Kingdom" offered a beautiful, painful look at the impact of addiction on families. It captures the "good kid" surrounded by addiction, one with the heartbreaking sense that they can save everything by being perfect. www.jamesseidler.com/book-review-...

An engrossing work of historical fiction, David Mitchell’s “Utopia Avenue” blends “Behind the Music” mythmaking with intriguing light fantasy elements. I enjoyed the callbacks to other books in the Mitchell Expanded Universe. www.jamesseidler.com/book-review-...
