Sometimes they are spiritual sequels to Packed To The Rafters but even the ones with a kangaroo are just Packed To The Rafters with a kangaroo.

As the best film lists roll out, remember: if you don't know some of the films on the list, that's not a slight against you. That's an invitation to discover something someone else loved. Don't take someone else's lists as an affront to the films you love. Both can be valid.

The only truly ethical response that a self-described artist can make. Anything else is a betrayal of one's colleagues.
“I am not interested, nor will I ever be interested. I'm 61, and I hope to be able to remain uninterested in using it at all until I croak. ... The other day, somebody wrote me an email, said, ‘What is your stance on AI?’ And my answer was very short. I said, ‘I'd rather die.’” 🫡
Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro says 'I'd rather die' than use generative AI
Del Toro's new Frankenstein adaption reimagines Mary Shelley's 1818 Gothic novel. Frankenstein was like a tech bro: "creating something without considering the consequences," he explains.

First Switch 2 review!

Mario Kart World is charming, bordering on ambitious, but its efforts to shake up the formula have an uneven impact on that signature racing fun.

A game I like but can't quite love without some updates and a major asterisk in the form of its price tag.
REVIEW // Mario Kart World

The Switch 2’s premium launch title expands the scope of the franchise onto well paved roads, but not without a few bumps

It's so sneaky/sinister that Disney turned the ice cream guy into a native Hawaiian man. Lilo taking pictures of white mainland tourists is a kind of coping mechanism for being treated like an attraction/novelty, it's a vital part of her character. Disney clearly wants to defang the original film.

The end sequence of Final Reckoning is just a worse version of the Fallout climax and I'm understanding none of the praise.

What's your go to Australian film to recommend to people?

For me it's Muriel's Wedding or The Lonely Spirits Variety Hour.

Finally hit The Episode in the Twin Peaks rewatch. Season 2 is kind of a disaster before and after it but Lynch and Frost returning to deliver arguably the most upsetting thing put to network television is still remarkable.
