Will add: in addition to a lot more visual chaos (particle hell, camera shake, phosphor trail and crt) you can’t stay still in this game - wait half a second and you’ll be forced to move by plasma beams. The black holes are big spawn points - they expand and collapse to spawn a boatload of enemies.

It’s quite a bit more chaotic and has some key differences - but yes I love the neon vector look, think Geometry Wars is great (love the grid but find the gameplay a little clinical) and definitely took some inspiration, would go right back to Robotron in my twin stick love.
