Finished Keristone and her mom. I tried using alternatives to the black pen I usually use, and well, here’s the result. I also erased the pencil lines when the ink was still wet, oops. Not sure about the colors. Was originally gonna make her red, but I didn’t want her to look like Ronald McDonald.

We couldn’t be home because my uncle’s wedding is tomorrow, but I’m trying to participate as much as possible. I left a bucket of candy and a note with me as a SPOOKY crow on it. I can’t wear a real costume this year, but I don’t need a costume in my imagination! CAW!

So I’ve recently learned that the model makers on Thomas based the human figures on celebrities, similar to what Rankin/Bass did with their celebrity narrators. In fact, one actor got the treatment from both Rankin/Bass and Thomas! (Margaret Rutherford)

In fact, apparently the house is so nice that the family doesn’t even want to move out of it, they just move it into the chocolate factory.
In the 1971 film, the ending where Charlie wins the factory hits harder because we saw a real boy battling poverty and not a Tim Burton caricature of one.

🧵 What I appreciate about the 1971 Willy Wonka is that the first part of the movie is grounded in reality, so that makes the chocolate factory even more fantastic. The 2005 version just feels like a fantasy from start to finish. Just look at the comparison between Charlie’s house in both films.
