So this years palaeo pumpkin ended up being a homage to one of my favourite places in the World, the incredible @cpdinosaurs.bsky.social !

I decided to go for a breaching CPD Icthyosaur with the sclerotic rings in the classic pineapple ring style.

One of the best things I made this year for sentiment and passion alone, a gift to an incredible young Palaeo enthusiast and her wonderful family who I got to surprise with this at Lyme Regis. I like working with marine scenes, and I’m really happy they liked it ☺️

Feathered traces in trackways, and some more beautiful Dinosaur models and dioramas. A book absolutely packed with art including the margins of the text itself in places.

From Donald Gluts 1982 edition of the Dinosaur dictionary, feathered Dinosaurs from 1976 from the legendary William Stout, and Mark Hallet also producing a fully feathered Theropod. This book was embracing the idea of with footprints, Archaeopteryx and in some of its wonderful artwork

A definite highlight of this year was the Lyme Regis Fossil Festival, getting to help run a the Palaeoart Workshops and Museum quarter was a joy. Thanks to @nataliajagielska.bsky.social for the trust and opportunity, @davehone.bsky.social and @iszi.com for being wonderful and very popular!! 🦖 🎨

Post an Orange Transformer

(This was rather harder than I expected as it seems orange isn’t very common with the Decepticons)

Painted 142 (I think) prehistoric animals this year, including these Tyrannosauroids for @neilgostling.bsky.social and his wonderful Hidden In Stone Exhibition. These formed a display based on teeth and revealed a diverse Theropod assemblage that was fun to recreate ☺️

A little reprise for Fossil Friday from my beloved National Museum wales as this incredible 3D printed mammoth occupies the space at the entrance!

An unlucky Sauropodlet gets snatched up by a Megaraptoran before it can splash across a shallow stream. These make prehistoric animals 140-141 for the year, but I’ve been tinkering with this print for a while. Rather pleased with the base as it’s practice for possible future projects

Something a little more verdant and colourful on the go as a little desk top thank you present, started incorporating plug in trees this year as it’s easier to transport and also should make future construction easier. Added a little resin water for a shallow stream so just needs the Dinosaurs 🦕

I love my friends 🖤

They really did choose some truly iconic artwork for this book, and I think this would be my first ever encounter of the fabled @cpdinosaurs.bsky.social since my copy is from 1988 and I’d only been alive a few years at that point 😅 Some truly beautiful vintage Palaeoart on display here

Provably one for @sophiesaurus98.bsky.social but while going through some boxes in my attic I found my childhood copy of John Man’s Dinosaur, which features some classic Palaeoart, as well as some rather lovely model photography. I might have found the reason I like so much foliage in my displays 😅

Got around to framing up this awesome @sharkbitesteve.bsky.social Transformers piece that I commissioned a while back, Steve’s been involved in two of my childhood passions via Transformers and Dinosaurs, so it’s a real honour to have original art by a legend in the industry. Such a talent!

So as it’s almost that time of the year and I’m clearing my phone of pics here’s last year’s Parasaurolophus Palaeo Pumpkin. Based this off some gorgeous @serpenillus.bsky.social art he drew for me as part of his Patreon. Not sure if I’ll be doing one this year but these are always fun to carve 🖤

Was a massive influence on some of the first Dinosaurs I painted in 2023, the almost military like camouflage patterns were very inspiring. Such an awesome artist!

A Fossil Friday WIP on this beautiful Microraptor 3D print that I’m painting up for the jovial titan of U.K. Palaeo @neilgostling.bsky.social and thanks to the always awesome and helpful @davehone.bsky.social for the sense check earlier, on the anatomy of this Dinosaur! Getting there slowly! 🦖 🖤

Making some progress on this beautiful replica Microraptor skeleton, should be finished by next week so I can get it assembled and finally see it all together. This replica and many others available from the wonderful and extremely talented dinosaurskeletons.co.uk

Today’s fossil friday is a WIP of a commission piece for noted palaeontologist, podcaster, author, mate, international jet setting Pterosaur/Tyrannosaur/Spinosaur expert and all round legend @davehone.bsky.social

Happy Fossil Friday!!

Suchomimus family from this years @dinoconuk.bsky.social charity auction. Inspired by the classic DK Suchomimus model and the art of the iconic Luis Rey. Was very happy with what this piece raised for charity and quite emotional as it did so 🥹😅🖤🏴‍☠️

Sculpted ammonite made from Milliput and around a cm long or so, made a bunch of them to add a little extra detail to the water
