Day #2 of the 2025 Maryland Assessment Group Conference consisted of sessions on leveraging AI for data analysis and Blueprint for Maryland’s Future. A highlight was a keynote by Dr. Brit Kirwan of the AIB on where we are with the Blueprint implementation and the progress moving forward.

Wicomico Educators spending this Saturday at Masonville Cove in Baltimore with the Maryland Council on Economic Education for a professional development course exploring the economics and environmental issues of water use.

6th YBL went on a field trip to Beyond the Limits and Cherry Beach recently as part of their leadership development in the program and ecology unit in science class. Beyond The Limits is an adventure education program utilizing a challenge ropes course and classroom experiential learning process.

Math 7 Young Business Leaders students are estimating the circumference of a variety of round objects. After estimating, they used yarn and rulers/measuring tape to check their estimates.

Young Business Leaders educators visited Salisbury University Libraries MakerLab and the NexGen STEM Program Hub for Innovation. At these centers, they explored technology available for prototyping and product manufacturing that can enhance and instill an entrepreneurial mindset within the program.

Theatre students were recently engaged in an improvisation game where the class was divided into two teams. A random scenario was shouted out, followed by random character prompts. Each team sent an actor(s) to center stage to act out the scene. First actor to break, lost!

Students in our Graphic Arts track are currently diving into Adobe Illustrator software in our iMac design lab and are currently focusing on the “shape builder” and “layer” functions.

Shown here, students are designing a digital “Toucan” as an introduction to these tools.

"Starlight School Night - A Learning Extravaganza" for Wicomico Public School Students was held Thursday night at the Junior Achievement Center in Salisbury, and the winning pitches from Mrs. Carpenter’s recent business class fishbowl/ shark tank competition were there to present to the public.

6th YBL students in Mrs. Carpenter’s class pitched business ideas for the first time during a “WMS Fishbowl.” A spin off of the traditional “Shark Tank” concept, students pitched to not only their classmates, but special guests from administration, staff, and central office.

Students in Theatre are performing “songologues”. Student's took a song of their choosing & instead of singing did a dramatic reading. The focus is to build one’s confidence as a solid performer, & practice the intricacies of audience etiquette.

Students in our Graphic Arts track have been hard at work this week learning about the designing of character sketches. Students are working to draft designs on paper that will then provide a blueprint for them when transition to our iMac’s.

The WMS Program for the Arts competed in a theater scavenger hunt yesterday where they worked in teams to decipher hints pertaining to theatrical vocabulary and topics, while navigating the crucial pieces that create a performance space. We are blessed to have a theatre space to support our program.
