Earlier than planned start to the day after being abruptly awoken by a fire alarm at 6:30. Impossible to go back to sleep so seeking solace in the calm and beautiful surroundings of Host Café in St Mary Aldermary.

Just been for dinner at the Apprentice, Edinburgh College’s training restaurant where everything is prepared by their Professional Cookery students. Delicious food and amazing value at £18 for 4 courses. (The purple lighting doesn’t really do it justice.)
