In my continuing search for remote work, I've started to add "I'm easy to get along with. I'm not a jerk. Ask my former co-workers" Seriously. People don't hire off a resume, because they don't want to work with jerks, so... I'm trying to put that fear to rest. Not being an AI is... next?

Looks pretty good to me!

What provides the feedback? Is that a shaft encoder to a processor to pwm? Or a potentiometer to an analog valve?

Can you share the order of operations? Do you bend it first then cut a slit then drill a hole? Or slit first then bend then hole? Or...

Turns out chickens aren't that hard to keep. They eat seeds and bugs and like that. Need a small coup at night, and a bit of a run in the day. Wonderful for a backyard. We have gobs of fresh eggs and they taste WAY better than store bought. Now I just need the lab to turn them into chips... ,o)

Maria and I had a lovely walk and managed to find some shade to stand in and nice people to talk with while we waved and held up signs. Bigger turn out than ever before. Overwhelmingly positive reactions. Happy, peaceful, uplifting.

Love that little LCD in the real world. And it can also do menu selections? I mean, read out the menus on the LCD so you can easily see them?

I desperately hope the USA is different, but... a LOT of countries have failed to correct early, suffered horribly and eventually corrected(ish) or stabilized. Ours is certainly not the only type of gov.

Dominion Voting systems was just purchased by a republican:

One Republican Now Controls a Huge Chunk of US Election Infrastructure
Former GOP operative Scott Leiendecker just bought Dominion Voting Systems, giving him ownership of voting systems used in 27 states. Election experts have concerns.

What seems to work best for me is just GitHub / GitLab / etc... Issues as requests, milestones as projects, Well documented commits, Reviews, PRs. And long term knowledge tracked in the wiki, to answer intern / new dev questions. It's far from perfect, but I was proud of:

This is all (painfully) funny, but... how do you actually manage? Best way to track bugs / features / projects? Track productivity? Code quality? Estimate project completion or expected time? Not a huge fan of Jira, but it seems like Democracy "The worst form of government except for all the others"

? I saw this hours ago, and it won't go out of my head. I don't understand and google isn't helping. Please put me out of my misery? I'm sorry that I get stuck on things; it's my problem 100%.

I lived on Bird Farm Rd in Chino and we would watch the dark smog heat up in the morning and pour over the hills (San Juan and others) from Anaheim. I searched but couldn't find a picture of it. It looked almost like a thick liquid. Like a solid(ish) foam pouring over a lip.

Exactly right. I use rosin made from pine sap in isopropyl, but I still try not to breath it. The lead in solder is no issue as long as you keep it out of your digestive system. Wash your hands.
October 13, 2025 at 4:18 PM
Lead solder is safe (you know that right?) as long as you don't eat it... on purpose or by not washing under your nails.

Did you know that they STILL use tetraethyl lead in AvGas? All the small prop planes are spraying that into the air. No one has studied the rate of "stupid" around airfields.

Thermodynamic efficiency is important, but the real figure is cost per watt hour stored and retrieved. I agree this probably isn't viable, but the retrieval efficiency has to be compared to the cost. Including safety costs. If you can build a valve on a massive cave system and it doesn't leak...
