thank you, gert. XC370711 of barn owl (same call as xc cut you give) was my initial point of reference but sounds more hissy/raspy than my recording - hence our confusion

it really does look like false, even down to the rounded apex (not pointed, almost hooktip-like, which i associate with blair’s). that said, this blair’s off lepiforum is a fair fit and there’s no sign of the smudging you often get in false.
