In stories, evil stalks in black capes & unmistakable form. Real malevolence arrives in daylight, dressed in mediocrity-armed with shallow & stupid promises. The truly dangerous appear as figures of mockery-too preposterous to take seriously. They win through quiet capitulations, not dramatic clash.
