The Emergency, which was Ireland’s neutrality during World War II. The medal recognises service of at least 365 days between 3 September 1939, and 31 March 1946. It is a bronze medal with a specific reverse design denoting the recipient’s branch of the Defence Forces.

Recently came across this stash of paperbacks from 1960s. The thing they all have in common is that they were banned by the Censorship of Publications Act 1929 in Ireland.
