Kikawada is not the only visiting minister to have got in a pickle. In 2016, Minister of State for Okinawa and Northern Territories Affairs Shimajiri Aiko could not read “Habomai” (歯舞), part of the territory claimed by Japan.

Zelenskyy thanked Japan for its support & invited Takaichi to visit. He also expressed enthusiasm for closer cooperation between Ukraine and Japan, including in the area of armaments & by Ukraine sharing its battlefield experience with Japan.
