That ironic thing where you are cycling into work all week because of major metro refurbishment but are simultaneously teaching non-cycle plays and fragments.

Watching online the intros to the Edward Boyle Memorial Lecture, as collaboration between ULeeds/RENKEI/RSA is taking place in Osaka, I'm reminded that when using PDF slides - make them full screen. Partly now as PDF readers _insist_ on having an AI pop up for their embedded AI services.

It was a fun night out and we even entered a raffle to win this artwork of Dr Frank-N-Furter.
I will now think of that nearby village as the Village of the Damned!

Of course, the problem with changing editions to a single one more accessible to these undergraduate students on this course is that you have to go through and change _all_ the line numbers on every slide, and do new screenshots of every quotation.

What would you do on a gloriously sunny Saturday in Kraków? In my case, I'm in a lightly air conditioned university building, using their power and eduroam to catch up on work. Still lots of conferences going on, so wearing my lanyard so people will just assume that I'm at a different conference.

Trying to get over jetlag walking around identifying birds using the Merlin app. Harder in Tokyo (some nice parks but if you aren't near them, there are fewer birds). Challenge: record one new species! Across the street from my hotel I managed to record an Asian Tit (new) and sparrows (not new)

Until ~2015, people sometimes misused 'digitalization' to mean 'digitization', instead of "the administration of digitalis". Now it means 'the act of moving a system from analogue to digital processes'. I'm fine with language change, but I keep assuming ppl are talking about managing heart failure.

Finally finished stripping back the paint, sanding, and danish oiling our stairs and bannister, deciding to keep lots of the history of the last 90 years. This early evening, I did the riser covers, melamine coated MDF, all cut to fit the eccentricities of each individual stair.

While lots of others employed in the UK enjoy a bank holiday Monday, I'm on a train to Vienna for an advisory board meeting. I always seem to forget UK bank holidays exist and end up working on them.

What do you do when in foreign lands and your extremely lightweight daypack (Onya Back) rucksack breaks it (what ChatGPT tells me is a) tri-glide slide? Why use a safety pin that you happened to bring with you, of course.

Today has been flight NCL - AMS - VIE, then CAT to Wien Mitte, walk to Wein HBF, now IC to Graz HBF.
But I was given some free popcorn 🍿 in the city centre of Vienna.

Last night we went to see the Handlebards (who cycle with all their gear between performances) perform Much Ado About Nothing at Northumberlandia. Very interesting active on stage doubling, and Hero was played by a mop in dress.
