But, to be fair, if you find my fond, slightly bewildered, memories of a TV show from the 1980s 'scathing', my writing is probably not for you.

These men helped frame me into the person I am today. They taught me strength, compassion, a sense of social responsibility and, perhaps above all, the ability to not take oneself too seriously. I feel nothing but love and pride for all of them. They are MY people.

And these are MY memories.

I'm sorry you find that 'scathing'. I grew up around men whose trousers were held up with string and had sheepdogs called Mog. I have nothing but fondness and love for them. The image of such a pair is based on a man I knew who had a sheepdog called Mog.
