There are times when too much light erases a part of a B/W portrait.
However, it can also bring attention to a part that would otherwise go unnoticed.

A friend of mine was a carpenter who made the best rocking horses. He crafted this one for my son.
It was still in the process of being built when I took this photograph.
The sunlight and shadows just tempered me and I couldn’t resist.

Living on Cape Cod was a turning point- I began talking pilot photographs. My style was the same and it was obvious.

I photograph a part of my subject, in this case, a KB-50.
It’s a gestalt approach.
You see the part and then imagine the whole.

I received my black and white photography training between flights during the Vietnam War. I developed my own style which I still use, except now it’s in color.

The first portraits I took were black and white and I began with family and friends.
