Think I'm leaving Bluesky for a bit. It's probably my bad, but I feel I'm speaking into a void.

Looks like they were reading my posts. It should be ushered in.
DMGT should now be allowed to buy the Telegraph. They are a natural fit who, frankly, deserve each other. And, in this age of media behemoths and dwindling newspaper sales, they do not comprise a dangerous monopoly.

Performative uproar because Chancellor won't be hiking basic income tax rate after all (apparently). But new uproar because she may be freezing tax bands, thus 'raising taxes'. She & Starmer should stop responding to provocateurs, forget 2029 and keep delivering on wages, mortgages, migration & NHS.

Am not sure Burnham would win Norwich South. But I think Clive Lewis would. So better all round if he stays.
@pronouncedalva.bsky.social Magical thinking applied to replacing Starmer by voices I respect. If unlikely 81 Labour MPs publically call for contest: Streeting won constituency by 500 votes so too big a risk. Rayner & non-MP Burnham would scare too many horses to win for Lab. Mahmood? Don't think so

..and now we're in panic mode!!
Everybody's talking about it now it's diving. Says a lot about this country and its media.
..and again on November 11. It will hit 10,000 before Xmas. But it gets hardly any attention in mainstream reportage.

Why do 'serious' UK political journalists perpetuate absurd tabloid narratives? Anyone who thinks an MP who scraped in by 500 votes last year can be PM needs their head examined by a resident doctor. Risk of party having its leader lose their seat is too big to allow Streeting to take on that role.

As I was saying to @mrjamesob.bsky.social et al..
*Deep breath* Reeves won't raise basic income tax rate. Maybe higher rates, which Labour explicitly ruled out. I also think that, as a pensioner with a property rental, I may have to pay NI on that income as well as tax which, despite disinformation, is already as high as if it were 'earned' income.

If Reeves is slammed for lifting two-child cap the question that will be be put to Farage and Badenoch remorselessly is: will you rescind it?

Strewth. Laura Kuenssberg really clutching at straws during interview with Lisa Nandy. Notions of impartrial journalism exposed as nonsense. As they were last century 🙄

I thoroughly dislike the Daily Mail and the Daily Telegraph. But they clearly belong together. I suspect that will be their final destinatination, whatever happens to the current ballsachingly protracted sale of the Torygraph to an opaque financial entity.

Well-paid, middle-class, middle-aged gobs on sticks whose professional success was virtually guaranteed by their Russell Group graduations should bloody well check their privilege before positing that working-class youngsters have no need to go to university to learn how to think critically. Grrr. 😠

She said she was aiming at those people who don't usually engage in politics. Well this won't land for them then, will it?
Why did Reeves give pre-Budget speech today? Added no new information.Tax rises were already a given. Didn't really provide new context. Won't change hostile press she'll get. I can only assume it was a message for the markets. But that's normaly done in coded language through specialised channels.⁉️
