Smidge of Aurora tonight…
A view from Holyrood Park, with the foreground trees and buildings silhouetted aside from warmly lit up windows. In the sky, from ground level upwards, we see light pollution, then a stripe of green light, then a blotch of purple light. The plough asterism is visible in the centre of the sky. The sky becomes darker the further up the image we go.

What a start to 2025! By coincidence, @notverymedieval.bsky.social was driving us to the Borders tonight. We saw the red alert. As I looked out the car window I could see the silhouetted clouds amongst a glowing white sky. We soon parked up at the roadside and got VERY lucky! #aurora #snow 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

As I settle into my new role at the Royal Observatory Edinburgh, I’m struggling to take my eyes off this view each morning as I reach Blackford Hill. Stunning! 😍

My first post on Bluesky is unapologetically of a dark sky! Took a couple of days off with @notverymedieval.bsky.social to unwind with some *very lucky* weather in Northumberland.
