Rehabilitated cynic. Still mourning the passing of the 90s but now inflicting the music on my daughter. Trades renewable power between weekends.
What kind of man wants the little woman meddling in something as important as THE BIG SHOP? Mind blown. 🤯

It's the flipping dunkelflaute, right? Probably would have been £140 flat all week absent renewables. Shame, but we still need it to be *available* until we fix the storage problem.

I'm only in it for the misadventures of Stuart Kirk. Sorry. 🧐

My stag party at a Mexican tranny strip club called Esta Noche in the Mission District, San Francisco. Bet you smote them with lightning decades ago. Jus' sayin'. </USA has a God problem>

Thanks Marko. I didn't love Fedora 20 years ago. Loved Debian back then, but stable wasn't updating regularly enough, so went to Kubuntu. I think Debian will be a more natural feeling switch.

O365 is a really good shout though!

But isn't Florida full of icky people these days? Heard a rumour.

Oh and Win11 in Virtualbox for those tedious corporate docs. Paging @topper.me.uk

Might be best to ignore my rambling. I'm not supposed to do this at the weekend. 🤣

Agreed. The same logic applies to all the dispatchable capacity we have in the UK. I'm not sure the answer is always "more batteries", but then what is?

I also agree the market has to split into cheap intermittent volume and expensive dispatchable volumes. But the demand flex has to be paid for...

Yes, but which average price? N2EX doesn't contain imbalance trades which makes it much more reasonable looking than system settlement. Was just curious really. Not saying you're wrong, but there might be more to it than average DA price shows.

The corporate struggle is real...

I do worry a bit about what happens when CCGT gets to a duty cycle of 10% There's never reason to think cost of fuel goes up, but the amortization on the plant isn't going down. If that has to be recovered on very intermittent use, cost goes up...

We plough on regardless like you say.

Are those average N2EX prices for the week? I'm not on my work PC at the moment, but willing to bet system settlement price got pretty gnarly last week

Meet the Victorian Kardashians! Sadly he'll probably marry off one of his brood of haunted pencils to Jack the Ripper to fully monetise this. 🧐

Brewdog takes the p!ss, NEWBrew sells the p!ss. There's no such thing as new ideas I'm told.

In a previous life as a barman I was told Warrington Tetleys beer was different to Leeds Tetleys because of the water.

How does this compare to Wūlferhampton effluent?
November 21, 2024 at 10:16 PM
In my previous life as an academic, saying "That's an interesting idea" was a pretty unequivocal way to tell people to f@ck off.
November 21, 2024 at 9:10 PM
I used to do that in a previous life. It's much harder work than it looks. 😱

Got struck by lightning as well. Twice. 🤣

The wife and I liked 6 Flags a lot when we lived over there. 6 Fags sounds *amazing*.

Hello and welcome!

I think we've found our new home. @ms-kuk.bsky.social was saying this afternoon while the child was at ballet and we listened to the dishwasher making soothing productive sounds, "This wouldn't have happened on X". 🤣

My (very) old Dell XPS13 felt very close to Mac quality and performance. Could be worth a look. I still love that computer and use it regularly 12+ years on. It's on Linux now because of Windows bloat.

@bodegacats.bsky.social does cats rather well. Aren't memes a bit 2010s? Old man here though. What do I know?
