Foreign defense was a purpose, not the purpose. The founders feared standing armies as tools of invasion and internal oppression. Militias checked federal power and preserved state autonomy. These ideas aren’t mutually exclusive.

The Second Amendment was meant to prevent federal tyranny by ensuring an armed populace organized through state militias, rooted in 18th-century assumptions about citizen soldiers… with slavery being a contextual factor in some states, not the amendment’s central purpose.

dicey63.bsky.social You should know Trump didn’t win all three branches. He won the Electoral College, which determines the presidency, only part of the executive branch. He did not “win” the legislative or judicial branches, as those are separate and not something a president can personally win.
