After the holidays, I’m going to give my first novel one extra proofread before I get to work on the publishing side of things. It’s a psychological suspense story with paranormal elements. #WritingCommunity

There’s a special Muppet edition of TIME on shelves now. It has a great article on the making of THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL—probably my favourite Christmas movie.

NY Times: “This a presidency that celebrates nastiness and spite, not empathy or grace, a reflection, perhaps, of a coarser era in American life.”

Belated Happy Birthday! I should try to find the print issue if you’re in it!
Wow I haven’t seen some of these photos in a long time. Thank you People Magazine for the birthday shoutout and for sharing these memories. 📸 Link below or in my bio for the full article. @peoplemag.bsky.social

Thank you to all the wonderfully talented graphic artists who reached out to me. I am overwhelmed. 😊

Change of plans. It’s looking like I’ll be publishing my first novel with Barnes & Noble Press and hiring a professional graphic artist to do the cover and jacket. 2026 will have good things to come!

You don’t even need keys now. I saw a stupid commercial of someone using a phone to unlock their car. 😵‍💫
The trouble with cars that start with the push of.a Button—now all of them—is that you can walk or drive away with the keys in your pocket. In the old days, they hung from the ignition in the dash.

I finished all my Christmas wrapping while listening to the soundtrack of THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL and Johnny Mathis. My cats leaving the bows alone now is another story. 😺

I was going to spend the morning wrapping Christmas presents, but I think I’ll be digging myself out of ten feet of snow instead. ❄️ I also will have some Substack announcements over the coming weeks. #WritingCommunity 🙂

I'm reading THE NARROWS by Michael Connelly; and while the story is good, I'm distracted by the logic of why the voice of the narration keeps flip-flopping between first person and third person. Who's telling the story?

I love these bookazines. The last one about Salem was also good. #Booksky

Received a rejection from a horror mag for my story about a guy whose head resembles a pumpkin. So many of them seem cut-and-paste that I wonder how often my manuscripts are actually getting read. #WritingCommunity 🤨

My Substack idea: one page for my short fiction and poetry; and separate pages for my novels and novellas, serialized into chapters. #WritingCommunity 🤔

Picked up two new Black Sabbath CDs to add to my writing-music mix. #WritingCommunity

WE DID OK, KID by Anthony Hopkins: A tremendous book, and one I will end up reading a few more times. Thank you, Sir, for writing it.

Going to dust off my Moonkin soon!
To clear up confusion, Midnight will release on March 2, 2026.

DELIVER ME FROM NOWHERE: What moved me about this film was the way it shows, without a load of sentimental corn, how writers work, drafting and redrafting their material. It's also about how beautiful things--music, books, poetry--emerge from unhappy times.

Happy I was able to finish this rough draft as my second novella this morning. I’ll print it out to start the editing process at a later date. Going to take a vacation from my writing till next year. 🥳
