Hi friends! It’s baking season again, which means I am here to sing the praises of pre-cut parchment paper. YES it is more money but the amount of stress it saves me is unimaginable. It’s SO EASY. If you can swing it I highly recommend it.

This is what showed up in my feed bc I haven’t checked bsky in a while, and I was skimming and didn’t even need to click the expansion to know this was you. The most Rahaeli point A to point B ever.

I MADE this. I am astonished at myself.

I have once again begun to chaos bake. Discord gets most of the play by play but please enjoy this glimpse into the mess. These will, hopefully, be tartlets with a mandarin orange filling and lemongrass whipped ganache.

End-of-summer poolside TBR. Feels like a pretty good way to spend my time.

Yesterday I was in traffic brought to a standstill by an enormous flock of geese who decided to permanently inhabit the road. Nobody could get past in three directions until the hero in front of me got out of his car and shouted “GO DO FUCKING GOOSE THINGS” at them.

I ordered this a while ago, promptly forgot about it (a tried and true strategy for successfully backing cool projects), and it just got delivered in time for our summer vacation. Cannot wait to read this by the pool. Thank you @poopraven.bsky.social!

Maryland moments: you park in a parking garage for a swim meet and someone’s kinetic sculpture race vehicle is randomly next to your car.

I know that rainbow capitalism is bad but I did just get these rainbow aviators from Lane Bryant’s Pride collection and they’re very good.

A story in three texts from my 5th grader (context: the kids at the bus stop are absolutely convinced that they are going to be able to start a fire with a pile of leaves and sticks and something to reflect the sun, and have been attempting it with great sincerity every morning for months)

I have wanted a citrus tree for over a decade and I finally got myself one now that our kitchen renovation is complete. The baby is getting her first nutrient spritz and for some reason the rest of the family is not nearly as invested as I am. A mystery.

I don’t buy a lot of books in hard copy these days but I snagged this one because I heart @stephanieburgis.bsky.social and I knew it would be extremely my jam, and lo, I was right! This is so good, y’all. I cannot believe I have to wait til next year for the next one. I’m PINING.

I wonder if Conan ever wanders into a Costco and is confronted by the surrealism of his own face staring back at him.

Hi friends! If you are local-ish to Boston, I will be coming out of author hibernation to head to @lovestruckbooks.bsky.social on March 1st for a VERY cool tasting event pairing beverages with our River Hill series! Tell your friends! Tix: lovestruck-river-hill.eventbrite.com?aff=Jamaila

If anyone wants to know how today is going, it is 7 degrees outside and the bird is still doing his thing. (It has been three years since my twitter thread about this guy went viral. I do not know how long cardinals live, or what brain damage does to their lifespans.)

We have not been able to schedule regular D&D or other long-term games since everyone started having kids. We have resorted to playing with our homegrown group (our children). With mixed results.
