I guessed it was the right-wingers on the BBC Board blaming the 'liberal metropolitans' for letting trans people have it too easy!
I heard Nick Robinson this morning use the phrase 'the argument about trans rights', as if the rights of some humans still need arguing about in 2025.

From what I've heard this morning, it's because the Chairman and Board of the BBC are all right-wing appointees & are intent on taking the BBC further to the right.

Therein lies the problem. The Chairman needs replacing with a professional who can demonstrate greater impartiality.
This man's inability to do his job properly has led the BBC into its current mess.

I was confused by listening to views expressed on Radio4 Today, but you've clarified it (I think). Despite the BBC being blatantly right-wing, they're not right-wing enough? I'd have thought it would have been left-wingers celebrating but instead it's Trump, Truss et al.

I agree,
But that's a big 'if'.
We still need to learn a lot more about what really went on. So far it seems to me the right-wingers on the board were unhappy with the BBC's perceived left-wing bias.
Which is a joke because Farage is on every single day.

It was a badly, misleadingly edited clip, no doubt, but it wasn't AI either. Trump still said those words.

Not where I live, unfortunately. My town isn't big enough for the local authority to justify the expense. With the 1000 new homes though, maybe it will be soon enough.

That looks fab.
I don't know of anywhere that looks like that.
Our town's roads are far too narrow for separate infrastructure.

I hope this story runs & runs to cause maximum embarrassment for Cycling UK. They should never have got themselves into this situation.
I'd like to see more women withdraw from the award, as in the controversy earlier this year over the Polari Prize. It 's the only way to send a strong message.

Perhaps you should clarify that you just mean cis women riding after dark, as apparently trans women don't fall into your definition of women.

What does true inclusion & equality look like?
It means including trans women in your definition of women.
It doesn't mean excluding them from your 100 women in cycling shortlist (because you don't know who's trans anyway).

Too many speeding drivers on our roads. This was another one, putting other road users' lives at risk.
Is there any follow-up by the police?

I don't doubt Trump will do everything in his power to scupper his chances of doing so, as he's already threatened to withhold funds.
There's going to be a battle of wills & words ahead, & unfortunately we know who holds the 'trump' card.
