Wow, blink, and your beloved son turns 46! But my love for him simply grows and ages well!

Will Anchorage historically rhyme with Munich 1938? Sudetenland was strategic to defend Czechoslovakia. But, it was surrendered to Germany. Hitler said it was his last territorial claim. But, rather than prevent a war in Europe, the agreement failed to appease an expansionist, totalitarian state.

In ancient Israel, the accused were given “cities of refuge” for protection from avengers and to receive judicial due process. They were not caged or deported. If your “sanctity of life” is only for the unborn, you can become blinded or calloused to demeaning and gross anti-life cruelties.

A word from an ancient “woke” prophet to lawmakers who try to hide their cruelty behind performative piety. Even if career doom doesn’t come in 2026, ultimately, the Father of the fatherless and Protector of widows will not be mocked.

Jokes about Alligator Alcatraz? Cut taxes for the wealthiest? Cut Medicaid for the poorest? Record deficits for our children and grandchildren? The GOP has fallen far from “compassionate conservatism” to “cruel corruption.” This is MAGA, an angry, callous, crude cult.

A group of finches is often called a "charm" when gathering or singing together (or a "flock" when flying). Today, we are CHARMED.

I don't “trust in princes” (Psalm 118:9), but do pray for all in authority, “that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life” (1 Tim. 2:2). But mafia-style leaders quickly lose public trust, at home & abroad, when the boss deploys masked ICE agents, erratic tariffs, and 30,000-lb. bunker-buster bombs.

On a day filled with anger (expressed in acts of righteous indignation or in revengeful vanities) this “What can I / we do?” discussion of faith —embodied in healthy communities to benefit wider society — was encouraging and hopeful.

Write your Senators and Congressional Leaders. Your Children and Grandchildren will thank you. Happily, Georgia’s 2 Senators and my US District Representative will not be bullied.

The Hebrew prophet Isaiah’s comments seem timely.
“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil” (5:20)
“Truth has stumbled in the public squares.” (59:14)

MEMO to Congress: "Ferguson’s Law" states: any great power that spends more on debt service than on defense risks ceasing to be a great power. (Adam Ferguson (1723–1816). In As proposed by the US House GOP, the so-called “BBB” would add $3 trillion more to our national debt.

www.nytimes.com/2025/05/23/u... Welcoming the world’s brightest students - vetted before granted legal guest visas - is a gain. They contribute $billions to economy. Grads who receive H-1 visas contribute to scientific & high tech leadership. Xenophobia isn't patriotic, or in the nation's interests.

Grateful that the first American Pope is not auto-generated but one whose first words were Christ’s benediction of peace to all the world.

Like most exec. orders, he cries “Woke!” to claim media bias. But those hurt most (losing cultural, education programs, public safety alerts) will be rural voters in MAGA base. Urban citizens (ATL has 2 NPR+2 PBS) will give more to sustain public broadcasting, advert-free news, excellent streaming.

Let’s nominate Mr. Trump for the Neville Chamberlain Appease Prize.
Trump is presenting Ukraine with two bad options—accept a peace plan that rewards Russia for invading Ukraine, or the United States will abandon its efforts to broker an end to the war, writes Phillips Payson O’Brien.
Heads, Ukraine Loses. Tails, Russia Wins.
Trump is giving Putin what he wants and pushing Zelensky to accept it.

If these global scholars stay home because of fears of action against them by the Trump administration, that's bad economic news for cities and towns across the United States.

Boeing, the USA’s largest exporter, may no longer sell in China. And China, with a near total monopoly on global rare earth mining / refining, has curbed exports USA needs for magnets, EV motors, computer screens, and for our defense: fighter jets and missiles. This picture is worth 1,000 words.

I’m going to say something that shouldn’t be controversial but will be. If you are a Christian, you can support border control and immigration being legal vs illegal. You CANNOT celebrate deportations and get off on the cruelty, and be a real Christ follower. Period

religionnews.com/2025/04/07/p... I didn’t expect SATIRE from RNS. After slap-dash imposing + removing tariffs, & calls for blind devotion (trust in Trump), the Holy See is easier to target than tariffs for smartphones. “we have domestic producers like Paula White who offer products much better."
President Trump imposes tariffs on indulgences from the Holy See
(RNS) — The 'pope penalty' will also include tariffs on rosaries and medals blessed at the Vatican.
