What's more, it does hint at some prefrontal development. Poor northern extent of instability and not the best wind profiles are the potential limiting factors, but all hazards remain possible, especially if storms develop ahead of the front. (2/2)

Regarding Wednesday: the HRRR has a much smaller corridor of instability than NAM or RAP due to widespread morning convection. However, it does show decent thermos in that small instability area, with SBCAPE locally over 2000 J/kg. (1/2)

A crazy 2024 Atlantic hurricane season comes to an end today. What a ride it has been - so many interesting storms, like Beryl, Helene, Kirk, Milton, Oscar, or Rafael. The season was very active (with 18 named storms, 11 hurricanes, 5 majors and 2 C5s), and the second-costliest on record.

Tropical Depression #Nineteen has formed near Central America. Although this system was feared to become a major and catastrophic hurricane, it is now expected to remain weak, a tropical storm at most (due to land proximity). Even so, life-threatening flooding is likely in Honduras in the next days.
