My go-to for light switches is hands-down inovelli. I have the zigbee version, but they are coming out with a matter/thread one. Functions without a neutral wire too!

Hoping I can get it to handle my core use cases without needing to connect to a cloud based llm. Two use cases I thinki care about asking about weather (referencing pirate weather api in HA), and converting units (tbsp into cups, etc)

Below link provides context - main contributor seems confident this is caused by the homeassistant app and cannot be fixed on frigates end.

I bought a 7th gen i5 nuc for $100. Muuuuuch more powerful and reliable than my old pi 3b.

Just noticed your HomeKit requirement - youll need a home assistant instance to bridge into HomeKit, at that point, UniFi and Reolink are fine (idk if they can work with HomeKit tho)

If you want plug and play, I honestly would either do UniFi ($$$), Reolink ($) or amcrest

Favorite mqtt: some esp8266’s I flashed with Mitsubishi2mqtt. Makes my mini splits completely compatible with home assistant.

So nice to have when the SO texts me when I’m at work that something in smart home stopped working!

Reason i originally switched is it’s the only app I’ve seen that shows rainfall/temperatures in the past. No idea why no one else seems to offer this metric.

If you make a change to the heat pump from home assistant, you will NOT see the change on the IR remote - but IMO you won’t need that controller except for the occasional guest.

You can monitor state (off, heat, cool, fan, dehumidify), temperature setpoint (can set min/max limits too), current measured temperature, fan speed (including quiet and auto modes), and fan vane directions (including auto and swing).

Curious- have you looked at Mitsubishi2mqtt yet? I use it to integrate 5 Mitsubishi mini split heat pumps into HomeAssistant. Wasn’t sure if this could help with your application.
