Damn that sucks you got hit with that. I remember though replacing an engine or transmission or other combustion components can be incredibly expensive too, and the rate of battery failures is very low and getting lower with every new generation of battery tech, which is every couple of years.

Battery replacement fears have been wildly exaggerated. Maintenance costs are way lower with my EV; and the used prices are super low compared too. Some even still get a tax rebate too.
