I think it goes well alongside something like Eco's "Ur-Fascism", which digs into the more "squishy" aspects of fascism, which Paxton isn't terribly interested in.

"Anatomy of Fascism" is great, but I do feel like he's a little too strict in the definition. Like his conclusion is that the only proper fascist regimes that have ever existed were Nazi Germany and Italy. A real thorough examination of the technical aspects of it though.

Whenever they talk about how they're going to reduce the waste in government, part of me hopes they'll actually recognize what the most wasteful part of our government is, but I know that's too optimistic.
