Our house was vandalized last night. I’m sure it was teenagers pulling a “prank.” But ours is the only house in the neighborhood with a pride flag 🏳️‍🌈 and it was the only house toilet papered.

Could it have been worse? Yes.
Am I glad it wasn’t worse? Yes.
Am I going to take down our flag? Fuck no.

Just submitted the manuscript for my chapter “Queering Holocaust Memory” in the forthcoming Oxford Handbook of Holocaust Memory. The editors, Frances Tanzer & Thomas Kühne, have been a pleasure to work with. Cant wait for publication. #queer #lgbtq #memory #HolocaustHistory

2025 is starting off with a sucker punch. My great aunt passed away yesterday. I’m having trouble putting into words how special she was to me. I had to get out of the house, so I spent the afternoon seeking solace in nature, among the ancient mountains and eternal stream.

2024 has been hard. My MAGAt father cut ties w/ me. Feeling helpless watching the attacks on trans people. I’ve also had moments of extreme joy. Being a Papa to my 3 year old. Learning to tend my trees. Watching new sunsets. Loving my husband. Im nervous going into 2025. But trying to lean into joy

I went to a Barnes & Noble here in San Diego yesterday. My flabbers were ghasted to see a copy of #PinkTriangleLegacies on the shelves! I’ve only seen it at indie book stores (bc they rock!). Then I went to the #LGBTQ section and there was another on the display. Swoon! #bookstore #BooksBooksBooks

I love seeing the pink triangle used in #intersectional activism, like during this Black Lives Matter march in San Francisco in Dec 2014.

Another autographed copy of PINK TRIANGLE LEGACIES is heading to the post office on the way to its new home….this time in Kansas. And my Clark Grizwald doll has blessed it.

For my first post here on BlueSky, Im sharing a pic of the time I took my book (& myself) on a pilgrimage to Stonewall when it was published. I sat at the bar with a couple of lesbian elders from the Midwest and heard their life story. I think of them often. Queer history is powerful and affirming.
