There’s an urban historian I used to follow on Twitter who basically argued that the major cities of the Ohio River should be classed together rather than being “South” or “Midwestern” cities. The cities’ focus on the River as core to our identities made us different from the surrounding states.

A friend taught at Cardinal Paccelli and they would make up a mini-directory of where everyone was - local phone number, address, etc.

Some of that is the Walmart effect. Instead of building a bunch of small-to-medium department stores in each town, he found an open field between multiple towns and opened a giant store that served all of the needs at lower prices. Suddenly bunches of small towns became almost commercially barren.

Lower back - that lumbar region was never meant to hold that weight.

The last two weeks in Cincinnati have been brutal. It’s been “pleasant” with 85° and “just” 60% humidity the last couple of days. Last week during the heat wave, it was ~95° with 85% humidity.

Graduated high school in 97. Early 90s alternative was basically everything that wasn’t hair metal. By the time I graduated nümetal was on rise and sucked! The only advantage I had was living in Toledo, I could just get the Detroit stations that were countering mainstream programming. Good times…

There is one caveat - the screw on a propane tank is intentionally reversed. So don’t get mad if turning it the normal way causes the hose to continually fall off, it’s the thread being backwards.

Yep! They were basically coach-built so field repairs were difficult because the parts didn’t fit. The suspensions were elaborate but frequently undersized for the weight they were carrying. And if wasn’t the suspension, it was the engine. And the guns weren’t stabilized so no shooting on the go.

Sometimes you bring us wonderfully weird tales; other times, it’s just lawyering from ancient days. My ADHD was checking out from the lawyering. How about if I ever think of anything worth memorializing in skin, I’ll just call you and you can send me a bill? Or do you prefer to work on retainer?
