What's happening here is I'm testing out scoring and saved hi-scores. for my Gameboy Cute'em Up, I Want Candy. I'm also tracking collectables to access a mini game, seeing if players collect 5 peppermint candies. Temp backgrounds from Sofia the Witch. #gameboy #gbstudio #candy #indiegame

I Want Candy update, my Gameboy cute 'em up.
Enemies drop different candy based on waves. The enemies have different states that I can control so I can recycle enemies without them feeling too much like a copy paste. The next step is to build some real levels. #gameboy #indiegame #schmup #gbstudio

I'm really happy with how this map scene came out. Again lots of placeholders here. If you can complete a special event in each level (not sure what these are yet) you can then access a harder level. I want it so you can pick your own route like in Star Fox 64.

I've started work on a new gameboy game. A cute em up I've been calling I Want Candy. Still super early days, but wanted to share some progress. Basic gameplay is fire with one button and eat candy with the other. It should result in some fun game play. #gameboy #gbstudio #pixelart #schmup

Saving in Sofia the Witch is done manually, when you read the spell book. To remove the frustration of having to walk all the back home just to save I implemented a teleport home option. Just hit select on any of the overworlds and you can instantly go home to save your game.

The hardest mini game to find in Sofia the Witch has to be the cat one. You have to clear 3 screens with hidden blocks. You can only see the block when you are not moving.
