In 1979, Jimmy Carter had solar panels installed at the White House.
Ronald Reagan had them removed.
We may be able to trace back the current "Do Harmful Things if it Trolls the Libs" Republicanism to Reagan removing those panels the far more forward thinking Carter had installed.

TIL Cyrano de Bergerac was a real person. Yes, he poked a lot of people with swords, but he wrote a lot more than romantic poetry.
Currently reading Cyrano de Bergerac's "States and Empires of the Moon." In it he writes about all the stars as other suns, each with its own planets, scattered through an infinite universe.
And this was in 1650, just 4 decades after the invention of the telescope. 🧪🔭
