Stick through it though, the final case is absolutely worth it.

"Guys it's ok, he doesn't like thing I like, and it doesn't matter"
"WTF YOU ACTUALLY LIKE THAT THING, HOW DARE YOU!?"

Easily the best starting case so far, being less focused on being another glorified tutorial and more on actually telling a compelling mystery. It's also really funny how much of a pathetic boy-failure Phoenix was before he got his badge

From the worst we go onto the best case so far. This one is incredible, having maya's life on the line makes the whole thing tense, and the big twist near the end completely flips everything you've come to expect out of this series formula in such a brilliant way.

. . . Yeah no, this shit is rough.this case is bad enough with the obnoxious characters, and a genuinely hate-able client, but then they decided the make two grown men fall in love with a minor . . .
Acro, Moe, and the scene with franziska are the only good parts of this.

Thankfully JFA picks up the pace with an excellent second case. Maya being the defendant again is a lil lame, but her channeling is utilized well, and I never could've guessed the twist with the culprit's identity.
Hopefully the next case is as good as this . . .

An onto Justice for All the second game starts off with a . . . Worse version of the first Turnabout with a lame amnesia gimmick and a frustratingly stupid culprit . . . great

. . . I have no idea how to feel on this one. On the one hand it's one of the most well written cases in the entire series, with my personal favorite antagonist so far, and his devilish relation to the defendant, but god it DRAGS. This has no reason being 8+ hours long.

A perfect finale for AA1. Fully fleshes out Edgeworth's character into something truly great and gives us an incredible antagonist in the form of Manfred Von Karma. This one does go on a day longer than it should much like the last case, but it's still great.

The first instance of "third case filler". Thankfully this is at least a fun filler case with a great setting, fun characters and a surprising turn of events regarding the victim's death, and the culprit's motives. It does really drag by the second investigation though.

This one starts off great with an immediately engaging hook, introduction of maya, and a great first trial day, but once the actual culprit is introduced it gets kinda lame. He's a completely pathetic pushover and having mia come in to save the day feels very contrived.

That is indeed the first case in the series. Shoving aside this case's iconic status it's a mostly uninteresting tutorial case where everything is spelled out for you to an almost obnoxious degree, but it's somewhat forgivable as the og tutorial case I suppose.
