I just watched this stunning film at Cine Lumiere's film festival in London. Would've loved to ask Payal Kapadia how she understood the Malayali psyche so well while creating Prabha's character. I'm Mallu myself and know a hundred Prabhas.

Strange, beautiful new book by Sebastian Faulks ... Something of a departure from his usual territory of historical fiction, this time set in the near future. Creepy but utterly credible and very sad, given all it (rightly) says about our species.

Finally saw the #TinaTurner musical with my Silver Aerobics crew. TT would've have been chuffed to see so many talented black performers come together on stage. Sorry the pic only shows those famed legs & not the Big Hair but the last 10 min are a wild concert. Go with 60+ aerobics nuts if you can!

Just finished @willdalrymple.bsky.social's new book. Tour de force doesn't half describe it. Can't help worrying, of course, that the right will hijack it but this line makes me hopeful: 'India has been at its most creative when it is at its most connected, plural, hybrid, open & receptive ...'
