Using my sociological imagination, I think with a full-time career, my physical activity will depend on my job and lifestyle. I may have less time, so I’d focus on quick workouts or weekend sports. Work-life balance will shape how active I can be, but I’d still make time to stay healthy. I care alot

I imagine they do measure that and kind of would be like the whole point behind that competition but as I said I won’t consider that as an “sport”.

I do see your point, games like badminton and football or basketball could not be played without an opponent but you have to understand the fact that being in competition and being competitive means different things and could vary alot among different players.

Kind of makes sense, Sports can be played with with or without competition and a common example would be a game or a sport played between some friends.

That is pretty interesting, they would still be considered a sport as they involve an athletic aspect and definitely some sort of media coverage but without the competitive aspect.

Believe me when I say some places and people do consider “sleeping” a sport, as much as I love sleeping it wouldn’t be labelled as a sport.

For me personally I believe that activities such as “sleeping” “reading” and hot take, “chess” would be somewhat of a leisure activity not necessarily outcasted as sports but shouldn’t be one as they are highly skilled based but lack that athleticism required to be labelled as a “sport”.

Can you name any one of the sports that are played without any competitive aspect, I would be genuinely interested in that as they kind of bend the basic understanding of what could be a “sport”.

That actually makes alot of sense, because for something to labelled as a sport there should be a competitive aspect, for example cooking is considered as a sport, even though it lacks a physical aspect.

I think poker should be considered a sport, purely based on the technicalities it passes the “definition” of a sport, also lets take cooking for an example, its an activity not a sport still worldwide it is taken into accounts as a competitive thing and there is 45% media coverage around the world.

Well, to dive into the real technicalities of the definition of “sports” would be basically a activity that involves 3 major components which are 1) Competing/ competitive, 2) Skill based, 3) Media/entertainment coverage. Based off on these components you can define a activity as a sport or leisure.
