These kids & parents, and this news source, were confused. The teacher wasn’t having kids pick (harvest) cotton. The teacher was having them SEPARATE cotton to show the impact of the cotton gin, a mechanical separator, in the Industrial Revolution. A picking machine wasn’t invented until the 1900s.

I saw Snow White! Basically, the autocratic Queen takes a happy, prosperous kingdom where kindness and fairness were key values, and then proceeds to ruin the economy, spread meanness and make everyone miserable. I guess I can understand why MAGA people wouldn't like it.
