UN Secretary-General António Guterres condemned the Taliban’s ban on women working in UN agencies and humanitarian aid in Afghanistan, calling it “completely intolerable and foolish.” He stressed that blocking women and girls from aid not only harms them but the entire country.

Malala Yousafzai: For over 3.5 years, Taliban have stripped Afghan girls of their right to learn. They aim to erase women from society, using culture & religion to justify their crimes. To them, women aren’t human beings. She called on world to support Afghan women’s education.

It’s been 1,213 days since the Taliban banned teenage girls from schools and 753 days since they barred women from universities. Now, they’ve closed NGOs employing women. The Taliban’s relentless crackdown on women’s rights must end.

The only permission they have is to gather charity in the freezing cold, on snow-covered streets.

Reports: — The Taliban have barred women from attending an exhibition in Kandahar showcasing their own handmade products, including embroidered hats, clothes, and jams. Once again, Afghan women are excluded from spaces where their contributions shine.

Afghan women are deprived of all their basic rights. The world must act now against the Taliban’s atrocities to end these violations of women’s rights in Afghanistan. For three years, the Taliban have trampled on human values with impunity.

Alia Azizi, a policewoman in Herat, was told she could return to work after the Taliban’s amnesty but never made it back home. Her whereabouts are still unknown. Many Afghan military women remain in hiding, living miserably.
