That was more political and economic. The decision to turn the last 3 reactors of came right after Fukushima. There was a big upswell of anti-nuclear sentiment (which has long been strong in Germany), and the providers decided it was unprofitable to refit the old reactors. But we only had 3 anyway.

I‘m not sure it matters both are now inherent artifacts of dystopian narratives, real or imagined. But yes I do prefer black ICE.
