Meanwhile, last week, #China's National Center for #Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation (NCSC) organized a seminar on non-carbon dioxide #emission control and reduction projects.

"The economic concerns that are constraining China's NDC are still there, if not exacerbated by Trump's tariffs," said Yao Zhe, global policy advisor with Greenpeace in Beijing.

This will further elevate the power sector's #peak emissions. China must accelerate the integration of #renewable energy as the mainstay of the power system instead of continuing to rely on coal power; this is essential to keeping China's green energy transition on track.

Our project lead, Gao Yuhe, thinks this trend suggests that in 2025, renewable energy could meet all additional electricity demand, eliminating the need for new coal power projects. Achieving this would pave the way for China's power sector to peak by 2025.
